Animal Crossing is a universe
I’ve been spending a great deal of Animal Crossing Bells For Sale time on an island lately — fishing, catching bugs, building furniture, doing some recreational decorating. My neighbors are a family of a horse, a monkey, a lion, and raccoons they’re somewhat needy, asking me to fetch some fruit from the island. But sometimes we just wave to each other while we walk among the nearby pear trees, and then continue on our own paths.
The only real limits to what I could do on my island are those imposed upon it by Nintendo, the gambling behemoth that generated this little world I really like to lose myself in. It is the electronic equivalent to getting a increase of serotonin. Playing with it feels as though you’ve only gotten comfortable on the most cozy mattress ever made, with nobody expecting you to get up soon. Most of all, the sport is absolute pleasure. New Horizons is the most recent entry in the bigger Animal Crossing franchise, which launched in 2002; 18 years and many advances in technology later, each edition is defined by the values of wholesomeness, imagination, and delight.
Even the Animal Crossing chain occupies a niche in games that often goes overlooked: There’s no violence no overarching goal, no time constraints or game overs or other unrepentant stressors. Instead, Animal Crossing matches fit into what is called the life simulator genre, where the only requirement is to jump in and assist the personality you design and control live whatever kind of life that you would like them to direct. In Animal Crossing, even if you want your avatar to appear like you, have a house that looks like your house, on which you like to spend money on — go for it, invest money only. Or you style your Animal Crossing existence to be totally different from anything you have ever experienced in life and may go in the direction.
The only roadblock to achieving video game verisimilitude is that, apart from your in-game, human self, every other being in Animal Crossing is… a creature. And your human personality has a head and eyes, including yet another layer of pureness. (The Sims this isn’t, though that buy Animal Crossing Bells match’s a very close forebear concerning the gameplay)
